Kendric Debellows was a professor at Hogwarts School, who began teaching in 2016. The longtime instructor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, he encouraged students to use unorthodox defensive techniques for magic. This involved students learning a unique form of magical martial arts called, Artis Decerto.
Many people disagreed with his grueling methods of teaching, and Rose Weasley even believed him to be sexist, as he would often encourage masculinity. It would come to a point when Rose refused to be taught by him and - with the help of her friends - began a secret Defense Club to teach her fellow peers how to properly perform defensive magic.
Nevertheless, he became an ally of James Potter and his friends. And was one of the few to join the reformed Order of the Phoenix.
Trivia[]
- Debellows began teaching during James Potter's second year at Hogwarts, and continued teaching until after James graduated.
- He is one of the longest-running instructors to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts. Many professors over the years have not lasted much longer than a year in the position (as evident during Harry Potter's time at the school).
- Following the Night of the Unveiling, he got together with a few of the school faculty to help reform the old Order of the Phoenix. These people included Minerva McGonagall and Juliet Revalvier.
