The Girl on the Dock: A Dark Fairy Tale is a fantasy novella by G. Norman Lippert. The story is a spin-off of Lippert's James Potter series (taking place between the second and third installments) and is often dubbed as "James Potter 2.5". It centers around the struggles of Petra Morganstern, in which she tries to find balance in the forces controlling her, and protect her step-sister, Izabella, from her hateful step-mother.

Unlike the James Potter stories, The Girl on the Dock is not self-published, and is available on sale at all book-sellers.

Book Description[]

Returning to the home of her grandfather after her final school year, Petra Morganstern has changed greatly. Confident in her recent choices, yet plagued by dreams of what they cost her, Petra is unsure what to do with the rest of her life. Her one ray of hope is her younger step-sister, whose simple-minded charm is only offset by her hateful mother, Phyllis. Desperate to protect Izabella from their mother's increasing rages, she struggles to find balance between the forces that seek to rule her heart. As things spiral out of control, Petra finds herself confronted with the unforgiving force of destiny, thrusting her into the ultimate choice one more time. Only this time, no one will be there to save the day. This time, the choice will be Petra's alone.

Potential Sequels[]

Following the 2008 release of the book, Lippert talked about a follow-up story to The Girl on the Dock, potentially titled, The Girl on the Balcony. However, this idea later developed into the third James Potter book.

Another sequel, The Girl in the Graveyard, was officially confirmed for release, and labeled as book 4 1/2 in the James Potter series, as it took place between the fourth and fifth books.

The book release was eventually scrapped, and instead, Lippert decided to incorporate the story into James Potter and the Crimson Thread.
